Kaitlyn Cates joined DOCUmation in 2023 as a Marketing and Communication intern. Originally from Boerne, TX, she’s a sophomore at Texas A&M University, majoring in Journalism with a minor in Business. She chose her field of study based on a strong passion for storytelling, content creation, and strategic communication.

At DOCUmation, Kaitlyn contributed to a variety of marketing initiatives, from writing and editing to campaign planning. She gained hands-on experience and sharpened her skills in a real-world business setting. Her time with the team gave her a clear view of the energy, creativity, and professionalism that drive success in the industry.

What did you work on during your internship?

“During my internship, I was fortunate to engage in a variety of stimulating projects that broadened my skills and knowledge in the IT and print-management realm. One such series explored the concept of Servant Leadership within the company, delving into how this approach fosters collaboration and empowers teams to thrive. 

Another highlight was delving into the fascinating world of color marketing, with a blog dedicated to the innovative strategies of the Pantone Color Institute. Exploring how they revolutionize the use of color in marketing was both personally fulfilling and creatively inspiring. These blogs allowed me to infuse my own perspective and creativity, making them standout pieces in my internship journey.”

How did you make the most of your internship experience?

“I maximized my internship experience by maintaining a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. I consistently attended the office to immerse myself in the work environment. I prioritized efficiency and quality in completing tasks promptly. I proactively sought additional responsibilities, making intentional use of my time at the company. Taking initiative was a key factor in ensuring an enriching and productive internship.”

How has DOCUmation impacted your career path?

“Working at DOCUmation has had a significant impact on my career path. The office environment is not only collaborative but also enjoyable, emphasizing the importance of positive workplace culture alongside client relationships. Recognizing the value of a supportive workplace, I’ve come to understand that aligning with an organization invested in my success and skill development is crucial.”

For future interns at DOCUmation, I advise them to: 

  • Seize every opportunity to learn and contribute to projects. 
  • Focus on networking by consistently applying and building connections, as it’s crucial for future opportunities.

Looking forward, I am eager to apply the knowledge and skills I gained at DOCUmation to my future endeavors in marketing and communication within the IT and print-management sector. The internship has strengthened my passion for these areas, and I am excited to continue my journey in this field with newfound confidence and expertise. I now have a clearer vision of my future career goals. I hope to have the opportunity to join DOCUmation again in the future.
