This summer, we’re proud to welcome Preston Thompson, a Business Marketing major from Abilene Christian University, to our internship program.
Based in our San Antonio office, Preston joined after hearing great things from fellow Wildcats about the company’s leadership and work environment. Now, a few weeks in, he’s already making a strong impression—taking initiative, contributing to team goals, and leaning into the hands-on learning opportunities that come with a fast-paced sales role.
When looking for a summer internship, Preston was drawn to DOCUmation’s strong reputation among ACU students and alumni. He wanted more than just a résumé builder—he was looking for a place where he could gain real-world business experience and see how a successful company operates day to day.
At DOCUmation, he’s getting a front-row seat to the full business cycle—from outbound prospecting and client interactions to the internal strategies that drive leadership decisions. It’s an opportunity to observe, ask questions, and actively contribute in an environment where learning is built into the culture.
Preston hit the ground running early in his internship—an accomplishment that highlights his initiative and drive. In just one week, he scheduled more than 10 meetings, gaining early momentum and firsthand experience with the pace and persistence sales requires. He’s embraced the challenge and is learning how creative thinking can lead to meaningful results in a competitive environment.
“Sales is tiring, but it’s been a great experience doing it alongside such a hardworking team. The people here really push each other to be better.”
When he’s not working or studying, Preston enjoys a mix of creative and active hobbies—playing guitar, writing music, working out, reading novels, and spending time with friends and family. His creative spark runs in the family: one of his biggest inspirations is his aunt, a successful songwriter in Nashville.
Preston lives by a simple but powerful mindset:
“Be kind, laugh often, and take it easy.”
He values self-care and balance—priorities he’s come to embrace more fully throughout his college experience. By learning to slow down and protect his energy, he’s found that he can show up more focused, creative, and effective—both in school and at work.
As he continues his internship, Preston is gaining valuable skills that will serve him well after graduation. Whether it’s refining his sales techniques or understanding the ins and outs of how a managed services provider supports businesses, he’s getting a full view of what it takes to succeed in a real-world business environment.
