Inside the Internship: Meet Intern Spotlight: Colin Tran of TCU

Colin T.

Colin Tran is spending his summer gaining hands-on experience with DOCUmation’s sales team in Dallas-Fort Worth. A sophomore at Texas Christian University’s M.J. Neeley School of Business, Colin is majoring in finance with real estate and is on track to graduate in 2027. Originally from Kansas, he’s embracing the fast-paced business environment of North Texas and building a foundation of sales skills that he believes will benefit him throughout his career.

Meet Colin: Quick Facts

Why He Chose DOCUmation

Colin wanted more than a typical internship experience. He was looking for an opportunity that combined professional growth with real-world business exposure.

“I wanted to build my sales skills because I know they’re crucial in any career path I take,” Colin said. “DOCUmation gives me real-world experience—making calls, attending meetings and prospecting—while also providing mentorship and guidance.”

He was drawn to the company’s culture of support, where interns are given meaningful responsibilities and access to seasoned professionals.

A Win Worth Celebrating

One of Colin’s proudest accomplishments so far has been booking his first sales appointment over the phone.

“My first few appointments came through prospecting or personal connections,” he said. “Landing one entirely on my own was a big moment—it showed me that my hard work is paying off.”

This milestone gave him a confidence boost and reinforced his belief that persistence and preparation are key to success in sales.

What Stands Out The Most

Colin has been especially impressed by the mentorship he’s received. He noted that the Dallas-Fort Worth office has a collaborative environment where everyone is willing to lend a hand. Being surrounded by successful sales professionals has motivated him to challenge himself every day and focus on building meaningful connections that will serve him long after the internship.

He has also enjoyed participating in the office book club, which he says reflects DOCUmation’s commitment to growth. “You can tell DOCUmation really wants you to be the best you can be—the best person you can be—and they want to make an impact that goes beyond the internship,” he said.

Colin has a few role models who inspire him. A lifelong basketball fan, he looks up to LeBron James not only for his dominance on the court but also for his impact on business and culture. He also admires business leaders such as Kevin O’Leary, who demonstrates strategic thinking and resilience in entrepreneurship.

Beyond the Office

Outside of work and school, Colin spends much of his time on the basketball court, a passion that has followed him since childhood. He also enjoys fishing, playing golf and traveling. At TCU, he stays involved on campus as the recruitment chair for the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, where he helps lead membership initiatives and connect with new students.

Looking Ahead

Colin hopes to continue developing his communication and relationship-building skills during his internship. He believes these abilities—along with the confidence to take opportunities and stay true to his values—will serve as a foundation for success, no matter where his career takes him.
